With three children who have attended public school in North Vancouver, Franci Stratton’s involvement with the School District grew through her volunteer work on parent advisory committees at both the school and district level. She served as vice chair and later chair on the 2009-2011 Board as well as chairing the Finance and Facilities Standing Committee. In her first term, she was also a member of the Strategic Planning Design team, the Outdoor School Advisory Committee, the District Fine Arts Advisory Committee, President's Council and the Collaboration Committee with the District of North Vancouver.
Franci credits her District PAC service for her ability to consider both what is best for students and for the system overall. She values the School District’s history of collaboration and its strength in curriculum development, and sees parents as important partners in this work. Her priorities as a trustee include raising the profile of the Board, to communicate more broadly and ensure that opinions of community and partner groups are considered in decision-making. Franci is confident the School District’s 10-year Strategic Plan will support good decision-making and support the Board’s commitment to program opportunities that are innovative and challenging, so that all students can succeed in meeting their educational goals.
Franci holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UBC and was trained in management at the Hudson’s Bay Company. She is currently Chief Administrative Officer for Nemetz (S/A) and Associates, an electrical engineering firm. She was first elected as a trustee in 2008 and re-elected to the Board in 2011.
