2 Code of Conduct and Administrative Procedures
Code of Conduct is one of the eight elements or aspects of Safe and Caring Schools. All schools have focussed on this aspect. Consequently they have:
- rewritten their code of conduct so that it is simple and understandable to all
- promoted, and posted the school's code in halls and classrooms
- 'operationalized' its code: "What does respect for others look like in the halls, the cafeteria etc.?
- communicated to all students age appropriate behavioural expectations and consequences.
- taught the code throughout the year
- reinforced its code through positive reinforcement, that is, "catching" and rewarding kids for doing the right things.
