Meet our Principal




Victor Elderton, BSc, MA
Outdoor School Principal and Co-Administrator

Victor Elderton has been a full time member of the Outdoor School administration team since 1984.  During that time, Victor has worked as a teacher at the school, and since 1988, as Principal and Co-Administrator.  Victor is a highly regarded member of  regional, national and international environmental, education, and sustainability boards and advisory groups.  His current committee responsibilities include Director of Environmental Educators of BC, Director of the Pacific Foundation for Understanding Nature (PacFuns), Board Member of the Association of Nature Center Administrators, member of the Vancouver Metro Education Advisory Committee, and appointed member of BC Premier's Citizen's Conservation Council.

Over the years, Victor's work and the accomplishments of the Outdoor School have been widely recognized.  Awards received include: the Canadian Teachers' Federation's Hilroy Fellowship Program, BC Ministry of Environment Excellence Award, Roger Tory Peterson Institute, Residential Outdoor Environmental Education's Jim Jackson Award, The North Shore Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards (Environment and Sustainability), Canadian Environmental Awards (Silver), Habitat Canada Excellence Awards and Fraser Basin Council Salmon Hero Awards.
