Cultural Systems

Nature's classroom offers endless opportunities for experiential learning and hands-on programs are based on a common teaching strategy that ensures lessons are taught:

Creating an emotional tie between students and some natural thing, such as a new born chick or an ancient red cedar.
In real settings and an environment where all senses enhance learning. Where what is being taught is in context, such as learning about salmon cycle in our fish hatchery and spawning channel or learning about domestic animal husbandry on our farm.
By enthusiastic teachers and counselor assistants: role models who connect outdoor studies with classroom lessons or on-site specialists with special expertise in fields such as fisheries technology or first nations cultural interpretation
Through equipping students for exploration and inquiry with real tools, like binoculars, magnifying glasses or bentwood boxes.
